Annual General Meeting

Members are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting in London, which will be held this year at 5:30pm on Wednesday 6 July 2016 in the Parliament Chamber, Inner Temple.

The AGM will be followed by a lecture by Professor Michael Lobban FBA, on ‘English Legal Literature and the Eighteenth Century Common Law’.

The lecture will be followed by a drinks reception from 7-8.30pm for which there will be a charge of £30 sterling.  Members will receive the agenda of the meeting, together with the annual report and accounts in June. View the AGM 2016 Invitation.

Other events of interest

The David Yale Prize

The prize was instituted in 1998 in honour of Mr David Yale, FBA, then President of the Society and formerly Literary Director.  A fund was provided by contributions from various professional bodies and by private donors.  The prize is for an outstanding contribution to the history of the law of England and Wales by a person under the age of 35.  A competition is held in alternate years.   A prize of £1,000 was awarded in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2007 and 2013.  Full details of the prize regulations and of the current competition may be obtained from the Secretary.  Read the David Yale competition rules.
